Kiln Drying Teak Wood

Teak Wood should be kiln dried for about three weeks to a moisture content of about 8% before used in manufacturing of teak outdoor furniture.

The drying process increases the stability and hardness of the wood.
If Teak Wood is not properly dried (internal areas have a higher moisture content) then the furniture is subject to splitting and warping if used in an area of low atmospheric humidity (most of the United States).

As wood dries, it shrinks. If the outer layers of the wood are dry, but the inner layers are not when the furniture is manufactured, then as the inner layers adapt to the atmospheric moisture content (sometimes a period as short as 6 – 10 days) the wood warps or splits to accommodate the shrinkage.

If the teak wood was properly kiln dried, then the outer and inner moisture content is the same, and the furniture will be stable.

WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS SAY

Hi, I wanted to be able to provide a review of the teak sun lounger pair with cushions.

I thoroughly researched teak loungers and found that Goldenteak provided the best price for high quality items. Your website outlined cost-cutting practices other teak furniture manufacturers used which concerned me. Many places charge $300 or more to add on cushions, so I was pleasantly surprised to buy this pair of loungers with cusions included! And, we had a choice of Sunbrella or Outdura (which we'd never heard of but picked after researching it). I was thrilled shipping was free and there were no taxes charged, making this an outstanding deal. The loungers are beautiful; the wood is solid and carefully crafted. I am happy to also have a small retractable beverage shelf on each chair and wheels on one end to allow for easy mobility. The chairs are very comfortable and I'm sure will be enjoyed for many years to come. Thanks for the great product! G.G. Product - Teak Sun Lounger Pair with Cushions

Hello - we were in Vail over the Memorial weekend when our teak sectional arrived. Shipper brought the pallet on dolly into our garage from the street. We spent a couple rainy afternoons putting together the teak pieces. It is truly beautiful wood and well-made. All parts were there, packed perfectly and with clear assembly instructions. The cushions are of such fine high quality and we could not be happier. We just painted our decks, so sectional remains in garage until next trip in a couple weeks at which time we are also installing a fire pit. I will get a photo for you after installation. I can't wait to see it in place myself, but am certain it will be totally amazing. We sat on it in garage, watching the rain and are so excited. Thanks, sincerely for a great product. PS the fabric is gorgeous!! BB TX 5/31/14
